Just a slight Improvement

How about starting off today with a slight improvement? Just a little teak in your everyday routine like just staying away from a doughnut or bagel. Add some protein in the morning with some veggies. Yes just a tweak then have water mid morning and some fruit. Be a little nicer to people and add a better stance to your walk, just smile at everyone. Ya, you got it!!
Lighten up on lunch and again, drink more water as the day goes on. Same with mid afternoon snack, go easy with fruit and water. And of course supper, get your protein in  with vegetables.

Baby Boomer Excuses

Aging baby boomers are smoking and drinking less, but overweight and obesity are on the rise, according to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau. That’s especially concerning when you consider the many other diseases and disabilities—including arthritis, type-2 diabetes, heart disease and hindered mobility—that can come with excess body weight.

The percentage of overweight and obese Americans 65 and older has grown: 72% of older men and 67% of older women are now overweight or obese. Baby boomers started reaching age 65 in 2011, and the report, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health, also shows many of these older Americans are not financially prepared to pay for long-term care in nursing homes. That’s concerning, since America’s aging population, which is now around 40 million, is estimated to double by 2050.
What’s the best way to handle overweight and obesity in people 65-plus? I started with a bit of working out at 50 and now at 62 years old, I'm in the best shape I have ever been in.
By the way, that's me with the fish 13 years ago and below would be me, last year, preparing for the Hartford 1/2 Marathon. Who do you think has a better chance to live longer?? No excuses people!!

So get off your butt and get some exercise, to start and stop making excuses!! Try our 21 Day Challenge, if you dare!! It starts in 2 weeks, or just make more excuses: Coaches Perspective 21 Day

Murph's Magic : The Baby Boomers

The Baby Boomers

Definition: Baby boomers are people born during the demographic post–World War II baby boom approximately between the years 1946 and 1964. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the term "baby boomer" is also used in a cultural context.
And yes, I'm one, and there are a lot of us who make up this bracket.
Almost exactly nine months after World War II ended, “the cry of the baby was heard across the land,” as historian Landon Jones later described the trend. More babies were born in 1946 than ever before: 3.4 million, 20 percent more than in 1945. This was the beginning of the so-called “baby boom.” In 1947, another 3.8 million babies were born; 3.9 million were born in 1952; and more than 4 million were born every year from 1954 until 1964, when the boom finally tapered off. By then, there were 76.4 million “baby boomers” in the United States. They made up almost 40 percent of the nation’s population.

So, as you can see, we make up a great deal of the present population give or take a few percentage points. And that SHOULD be a large group exiting the "work place" but it's not. This creates a huge problem with the Gen Y's coming out of college or high school and looking for work.
Why are the Baby Boomers not leaving the work place? Plain and simple fear!! They didn't save or plan for retirement. Fear of no money, fear of money running out, fear of inflation taking their savings, annuity, pension. And now they keep working for just plain old safety. The retirement age 62-65 in GONE! and the new 65 is 70 years old and older.

Get off your ass Baby Boomers and LOOK for a safety net you can build, if you so desire, by taking your years of experience, contacts, social circles and just plain old networking and combine  using today's technologies to create your opportunity. Embrace the Internet, social media and just  DO IT!!! Create your future!! I did and I'm glad I am able to help others, because giving is always better and our generation knows that.
